We are pleased to be able to invite you to compete in the eighth World Junior Championships (Individual Event) and the fourth World Junior Team Championships (Team Event).

Players are eligible provided they remain under 19 years of age throughout the calendar year in which the World Junior Championships are held. In other words players must have been born in 1988 or later to compete. IBF may require documentation supporting the age of players.

By 15 July 2006 form 1 must be completed and returned ? if you wish to compete in the Team Event
By 15 October 2006 form 2 must be completed and returned ? if you wish to compete in the Individual Event
By 19 October 2006 form 3 must be returned which lists the players in your team
IBF reserves the right not to accept any late entries so it is imperative that entries are received in time

If you need visas to travel to Korea then please contact Korea Badminton Association giving your players and officials full names as shown on their passports, dates of birth and passport numbers.

Maximum entries for each Member Association:

Each competing Member Association shall, at least 14 days before the commencement of play in the Competition, nominate the players that the team will be selected from.
Teams shall be required to play ties comprising:
one men¡¯s singles;
one women¡¯s singles;
one men¡¯s doubles;
one women¡¯s doubles;
one mixed doubles.
Note: No player shall play in more than two matches in the tie. The minimum size of team for each tie is two male and two female players.
The competition will be held in two stages ? a first and a final stage
First stage:
In the first stage all teams shall play in groups of four or five teams or groups/subgroups of six to eight teams, where all teams play all other teams in the same group/subgroup. An overall ranking order in the group shall be achieved.
For 32 or fewer teams entering there shall be four groups in the first stage. For 33 to 64 teams, there shall be eight groups. For more than 64 teams, there shall be 16 groups.
Final stage:
The final stage shall consist of a series of ranking competitions.
Each ranking competition shall be played similar to a knock-out draw (with winning teams progressing to the next round), but with losing teams going on to play losing teams from the same round in further sub-competitions until a total ranking for the teams in that ranking competition has been determined.
Each team shall play in the ranking competition determined by its place in its first stage group.
The winner from each first stage group shall play in a ranking competition to determine overall rankings 1 to 4, 1 to 8 or 1 to 16, depending on the number of groups in the first stage.
The 2nd team from each first stage group shall play in a ranking competition to determine overall rankings 5 to 8, 9 to 16, or 17 to 32, depending on the number of groups in the first stage
The 3rd (4th, 5th etc) team from each first stage group shall play in similar ranking competitions to those listed above to determine further appropriate overall rankings.
Ranking order in the group or sub-group will be determined by using Sudirman Cup Regulation 5.5, 5.6 and 5.7
